I just wanted to inform anyone that knows me, or has been supporting my MIND OVER MATTER cycling events since 2005. I received some "stunning" news on 12/12/08. I was diagnosed with Breast Cancer. I had surgery on 12/22/08 for double mastectomy with breast reconstruction surgery.
My Final Results from surgery: Cancer "NOT" in the lymph nodes. I am truly very blessed! I am very grateful to Dr. Akash Sheth (General Surgeon), for moving so quick in coordinating a surgical date with Dr. William Stefani (Plastic Surgeon). No chemo, no radiation was needed. Dr. Yakan (Oncologist) prescribed Tamoxifen pill as a preventative measure taken daily for the next 5 years. My Breast Cancer was Stage 1. I am convinced that early cancer detection, "definitely" makes a difference!!!
I had breast reconstruction surgery on April 8th, 2009, for the permanent implants. My last breast reconstruction surgery is August 12th, 2009. So I was able to cycle in my MIND OVER MATTER 2009 Alzheimer's Cycling Event!!! I cycled the 25 Mile Ride in 1 1/2 hours. It was a great personal accomplishment to me!

As difficult as it was to expose that I had Breast Cancer to the public, I felt there were more "Pro's" in raising the Awareness out there to share my story!
